What term did you attend IPC?
Autumn 1979
What do you do?
I teach English to speakers of other languages.
Are you married? Do you have children?
I have 2 children and I am single.
What are your best memories from IPC?
When I look back on my life, I have to say that my stay at IPC was by far one of the most memorable. I enjoyed traveling to Germany, visiting Christiana, seeing the birthplace of Hans Christian Andersen, participating in the play The Emperors New Clothes, and spending many evenings sipping tea with the friends that I made. The teachers there were exceptional. Little did I know how my Psychology teacher and Women's Affairs teacher would profoundly affect my life. Meeting students from many different countries was also an experience I've not forgotten. I would recommed IPC to anyone. It was an experience that changed my life.
Who have you met up with since IPC?
When I was at IPC, we didn't have the technology that we have today, so it was a little more difficult to stay in touch. However, one of my fellow students did come to visit me a few years after our stay and I exchanged letters with several others.
What was the greatest thing you learned at IPC?
It's hard to pinpoint one thing, because I learned so much. As a young girl, my eyes were opened to the plight of women in developing countries, the similarities between myself and people from the rest of the world, that at the time I didn't know existed, and the importance of education.
What message do you wish to give to everyone from your IPC term?
Thank you!
Anything else?
I am introducing my nephew to IPC and I hope that he will go and enjoy the experience as much as I did. When my own son gets old enough to do the same, I will encourage him as well. If given the opportunity to teach at IPC, I would jump at it:)
